De Luzula pilosa Igel is een mooi siergras dat ongeveer 25 cm hoog wordt en in het Nederlands ook wel wordt aangeduid als ‘Veldbies’. De plant heeft geen specifieke voorkeur wat betreft standplaats, zolang de bodem maar vochtig genoeg is. Van mei tot en met juli staat de plant in bloei met witte, pluisvormige bloemen.
